SignatureNet.
First steps for registered users.
Welcome to SignatureNet
To make your start easier, in the following we have briefly summarized the necessary first steps.
To look at the animated demos, you will need Macromedia Flash Player 6 or later. You can download it here for free.
- How can I register my bank-internal users?
- Which user types are there?
- How can I authorize other banks so they can look at our directory?
- What must I do so we can look at the directories of other banks?
- How can I load a new signature directory onto the SignatureNet server?
- How can I activate our directory?
How can I register my bank-internal users?
As your bank's administrator, you can register your bank-internal users online as additonal administrators or users. To do this, use the 'Administer Users' link in the upper right menu.
On the first page of User Administration, you will see your bank's users who are already registered. When you use SignatureNet for the first time, you alone are listed in this overview, as an administrator (type A). To register additional administrators or users (type U = user) of your bank, click on 'Record New User'.
Then fill out the required information. Please note that the passwords must be at least 8 characters long and contain at least one number and one special character.
Tip:
First, register your deputy as second administrator.
Here you will see a short demonstration of how to record a new user:
Which user types are there?
The following user types exist:
- Intranet user: Intranet users can only look at their own bank's signature directory. They have no authorization to look at other banks' signatures.
- User: Normal SignatureNet users can look at both their own signature directories and those of the correspondent banks.
- Administrator: Administrators have expanded authorizations:
They can record their own users, transmit new signature directories, authorize other banks to look at their own directories, call up statistics about use, etc.
How can I authorize other banks so they can look at our directory?
(This menu option is only available for issuing bank administrators!!)
For other banks to look at your directory, you have to authorize them to do so.
You can do this through the 'Authorize Partner Banks' menu. If other banks have already requested to be able to look at your directory, you will see this listed below.
To give other banks authorization, you have to click on the corresponding check box next to the bank and then confirm your choice with 'Save'. Other banks can access your signature directory as soon as you have saved it.
Tip:
Normally you will authorize those banks to which, until today, you have sent your directory on paper, microfiche or CD.
To simplify this process with very many correspondent banks, you can also choose this method:
Click on 'Display All' and select from the country list, such as Switzerland. The first 15 CH banks will now be displayed. To display all CH banks, click on 'Display All' below on the page.
Then click on 'Authorize All Displayed'.
When you now save this selection, all Swiss banks are authorized to look at your directory.
Then you can select your other foreign correspondent banks, either by country as well or by selecting and authorizing them individually via bank search.
Here you will see a short demonstration of how to authorize correspondent banks:
What must I do so we can look at other banks' directories?
Either a bank authorizes you or you must make a request to be able to access the other bank's directory.
As soon as you log on as USER (or as Administrator you click on 'Other directories'), you will see a list with those banks for which you already have authorization.
If the desired correspondent bank is not among them, you, as an administrator, can request access by selecting the 'Request Access' menu option.
Then search for the desired bank, click on the check box and save the selection. By saving the selection, you trigger a corresponding request for authorization at the selected bank(s), as described above.
Important to know:
There is no automatic right of access to a correspondent bank's signature directory. In each case, the issuing bank must explicitly authorize the requesting bank.
Of course, it is also a prerequisite for access to a directory that the desired bank has already joined SignatureNet as an issuing bank and has already activated the signature directory.
Tip:
Normally you will request access of those banks which, until today, have sent you their directory on paper, microfiche or CD.
To simplify this process with very many correspondent banks, you can also choose this method:
Click on 'Display All' and select from the country list, such as Switzerland. The first 15 Swiss banks will now be displayed. To display all Swiss banks, click on 'Display All' below on the page.
Then click on 'Request all on this page'.
When you now save this selection, the administrators of all Swiss banks will see your request as soon as they login the next time, and they will authorize you (or not). This process can take some days !
Here you will see a short demonstration of how to request access:
How can I load a new signature directory onto the SignatureNet server?
(This menu option is only available for issuing bank administrators!!)
To transfer a new signature directory to the SignatureNet server, click on the 'Our Directory' menu.
Here, as an administrator, you can also look at the currently active as well as the old directories.
To transfer a new directory, choose the corresponding file using 'Search'.
Possible file formats are:
- Signaturenet.dat : This format is generated from the SignList software
- *.pdf : This format is used by banks that deliver a .PDF file
- *.zip : This format is used by banks that generate their data from a database
The first time, you can enter the text to appear with each signature in the 'Signature Rule' field. This is mostly a short rule in different languages, e.g. 'Our bank is obligated through the signatures of two persons with signature powers.'
As soon as you select 'Transmit', the data are transferred to the SignatureNet server. Please have patience. This process can take some minutes, depending on the transmission speed and data volume.
A message confirms the successful transmission of the data. After transmission, the data is imported into the SignatureNet database. You will see the progress of this process in a graphic bar.
This process, too, can take some minutes with larger data volumes.
As soon as the import is completed, a message appears, and you can now look at the transferred directory again and then activate it via 'Activate Pending Directory'.
In doing so, please observe the chapter further below.
Tip:
For longer signature rules, it is advantageous to place a link in the bank-specific part, which opens its own window with the signature rule.
In such a case, the text with the signature could be, for example:
'Please observe our signature rule with the corresponding link above right'.
Here you will see a short demonstration of how a new directory is transmitted:
How can I activate our directory?
(This function is only available for issuing bank administrators !!)
After a new directory is transmitted, its status is 'pending'. It is also not yet visible for other banks' users. The new directory only becomes visible to others when you, as an administrator, through the 'Our Directory - Activate Pending Directory' menu option check the transferred directory for correctness and then confirm this with the 'Activate' command.
The old directory is archived.
Important:
With the 'Activate' command you confirm that the signatures and other information, such as name, signature rights, issue date, etc., correspond to the status that you have just transmitted and thus wanted to make public.
Your confirmation is registered.
Tip:
Note the changes that you have made and check whether they appear in the pending directory exactly as you wanted.
If, for example, you have deleted a person, check whether or not it still appears in the pending directory. Or if you wanted to change the issue date, check it for correctness on a signature page.
If you discover irregularities, you must not activate the directory.
In this case, go back to Administration and transmit the correct file.
